Volunteer of the Year
This award is for an exceptional volunteer who demonstrates dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of patients, carers, visitors and staff within SMHS.
Pauline James – Rockingham Peel Group
After close to 40 years of voluntary service with the Rockingham General Hospital Auxiliary, Pauline’s commitment to improving the experience of patients, staff and visitors is well respected.
During this time, Pauline supported the Auxiliary through 25 years as a committee member, and also rolled her sleeves up to offer frontline support to emergency department patients and staff, Elanora’s gift shop and Elanora’s café.
Now approaching her 90th birthday, Pauline has long donated her time, skills and experience, and continuously looks for opportunities to expand the Auxiliary’s work. She particularly enjoys spending time with patients and visitors, offering a friendly smile and lending a listening ear, during often daunting times.
Pauline remains especially proud of the Auxiliary’s scholarship program that provides grants to staff to undertake further learning and development opportunities, allowing them to apply their skills and knowledge towards improving patient care or streamlining processes.
