2023 Compassionate Care Awards nominations now open

If you have been a patient in our hospital and were cared for by an individual or a team with kindness, compassion and understanding, nominate them now for a 2023 Compassionate Care Award.

Biobank enables better outcomes for critically ill patients

SMHS research can now utilise a wider variety of biospecimens, such as blood and body tissue, thanks to the SMHS Biobank – a newly-developed, world-class biospecimen sample processing and storage service.

With the Intensive Care Unit housing some of the sickest patients in the hospital at any given time, specialising in intensive care was always a given for Intensivist Dr Hayley Robinson.

The South Metropolitan Health Service Virtual Emergency Medicine initiative is further improving patient outcomes by admitting elderly patients directly to the specialised geriatric ward at Fremantle Hospital.
