Our cancer service also includes:
- inpatient medical and radiation oncology (located on level 7)
- surgical beds for cancer patients
- haematology, including the State bone marrow transplant service
- a comprehensive chemotherapy service for inpatients, outpatients and ambulatory care
- a consultative palliative care service
- a specialised pharmacy for the preparation of chemotherapy agents
- a dedicated breast service offering advanced screenings, specialist doctors and counselling services.
Surgery for a range of cancers (including head and neck, melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma, breast, gastrointestinal, lung and urological) is performed at our hospital.
We also provide reconstructive surgery.
Our facilities
Outpatient and day therapy services are located on the ground floor.
Our comprehensive centre includes:
- 22 consulting/interview rooms for cancer outpatients
- a chemotherapy unit with 18 chemotherapy bays and four enclosed single bedrooms
- a day therapy unit with 8 assessment bays including one 4-bed room for aphaeresis (the process where blood is put through a machine to separate out components)
- a radiation oncology suite on the lower ground floor, with four linear accelerators, radiation therapy planning and dosimetry facilities (to measure and calculate radiation doses)
- the Breast Centre on level 1 – the centre has been developed around a private courtyard and features a separate entrance and drop-off area to improve privacy for patients and their visitors.
