Injury Prevention in Western Australia: A Review of Statewide Activity for Selected Injury Areas

The latest injury prevention review, Injury Prevention in Western Australia: A Review of Statewide Activity for Selected Injury Areas is available to assist people engaged in injury prevention in Western Australia.

The review, produced by WA Health, shows injuries were the fourth most common cause of death in WA between 2007 and 2011, and the fourth most common cause of hospitalisation between 2008 and 2012.

The review highlights injury prevention issues and activity in WA, including the leading types of injury, risk and protective factors, as well as relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice. Aboriginal people and injury prevention, alcohol use and injury, are also addressed.

In addition, the Know Injury Knowledge Hub (external site) is a new website offering the latest knowledge, resources and networks in injury prevention.

As well as providing information and resources, the hub encourages practitioners to join network groups or connect online with fellow colleagues across WA.

This website is coordinated by the Injury Control Council WA on behalf of the Department of Health.
