An annual conference dedicated to providing development opportunities for Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group staff has been recognised at the recent South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Excellence Awards (external site).

The Annual IMPROVE Conference won the Excellence in Developing and Engaging our Staff award for its role in building a culture of continuous improvement and interdisciplinary learning across both Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals.

The conference enables teams and staff to showcase their diverse work and learn the value of applying quality improvement principles, methodologies and project design.

Since 2015, more than 1,000 people have attended the conference to share knowledge, ideas and inspiration.

IMPROVE Conference Conveynor Catherine Li said teamwork and collaboration was key to the success of the project, as was the trust and support of hospital executives.

“This recognition inspires us to continuing making the conference program an even better platform for developing and engaging staff,” Catherine said.

SMHS Chief Executive Paul Forden said the organisational-wide value of the conference was reflected through the embedding of conference projects into everyday hospital practice.

“The IMPROVE team should be very proud of their achievements,” Paul said.

The SMHS Excellence Awards celebrate and reward high-achieving staff across Fiona Stanley, Fremantle, Rockingham General and Murray District hospitals who exemplify the SMHS core values of Care, Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Teamwork in their care and service each and every day.
