No two days are the same for Medical Photographer Cherie Taylor

The world through the lens of Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG) Medical Photographer Cherie Taylor offers a unique perspective.

As a part of the Medical Illustrations’ team, Cherie’s role is to document a patient’s journey from start to finish.

“It’s a unique job that requires a scientific and commercial photography skill set,” Cherie said.

No day is the same for Cherie. When she’s not taking photos of wounds, lesions and burns in the outpatient clinics, you can find her in theatre taking photos of different surgery cases or taking photos of patients to support clinical education.

“The clinical photos are for the patient’s medical record, which assist with medical decisions, planning and comparisons. Given Fiona Stanley is a tertiary hospital, many of the photos are used for education purposes and scientific journals,” she said.

“I can receive a call to take a clinical photo anywhere is the hospital at any given time. It’s a fascinating career path.”
