Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) has been named as the winner of the Department of Transport’s Your Move initiative (external site).

Staff Wellness Committee member Alicia Talbot said the win was fantastic news and the committee was looking into how best to spend the 1 000 Your Move points prize.

“A number of staff cycle to work, so the possibility of having the Bike Doctor host bike maintenance workshops and cycling safety would be a great opportunity,” Alicia said.

“This will certainly help us to further promote active transport to staff as we step into spring.”

The Staff Wellness Committee has been actively encouraging staff to cycle, walk or use public transport to get to work over the past year.

Alicia said there was a great response to the Bike Week activities.

“The committee held an information stand at Fiona Stanley Hospital to inspire staff to get on their bikes,” Alicia said.

“We developed a video that showcased the hospital’s bike facilities and amenities, and how to enter the site using local bike paths.”

By swapping a few car trips per week for active travel, staff have been able to build more physical activity into their routine, spend more quality time with friends and family, and save money.
